Doksan Sangchunjeong
Doksan Sangchungjeong There is a famous attraction by the Bocheongcheon Stream, which starts from the foot of Songnisan Mountain, flows through Cheongsan Mountain and Cheongseong-myeon in the eastern end of Okcheon, and joins the main stream of the Geumgang River. In the midst of the watercourse, there stands the towering Doksan and Sangchunjeong, rising to a height of 20 meters. This pavilion is named so because the surrounding scenery always resembles spring. It is said that Park Chun-sik, the head of Cheongseong Township, led the establishment in the 1970s. The legend that has been passed down since ancient times in Doksan is interesting. Originally located in Songnisan Mountain, Doksan was carried down to this place by the heavy rain, at which point a temple abbot claimed that this mountain belonged to them and collected taxes. During that time, a newly appointed district officer reportedly said, “Doksan came on its own accord, so take it away,” and since then, it is said that no taxes were paid for Doksan. This area is also famous as a scenic spot where you can see the beautiful sunrise in the early morning and the starry sky at night, and photographers flock here to capture its beauty. Especially on clear days, when the sun rises, Doksan and Sangchungjeong create a reflection on the water, creating a spectacular scenery. It is said that the Bocheongcheon Stream has a lot of fish, and nearby residents enjoyed fishing in the stream. Nowadays, this place is famous for its fish noodle soup and grilled amur fish dishes.
