Janggye Tourist Site
Sparkling Geumgang River waves and beautiful gardens... Janggye Tourist Site
Janggye Tourist Site was established in 1986 with a basic theme of the natural landscape of Daecheongho Lake. It covers an area of over 190,000 square meters and is designated as a tourist site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in accordance with the Tourism Promotion Act. This place is a perfect spot for a tranquil stroll, where you can immerse yourself in contemplation. Sitting on a bench and simply gazing at the lake can also bring you moments of happiness. It is also well-known for the public art project titled "Hyangsu 30-ri: A Wonderful New World," which applies the poetry award of the renowned modern poet, Jeong Ji-yong. Currently, as part of the Janggye Tourist Site Development Project, efforts are being made to improve the walking trails and create beautiful gardens. The gardens are planned to be developed in a 38,000 square-meter area and will include terrace gardens, seasonal gardens, and rock gardens. This place, where sparkling silver sand river flows long in clear waters with numerous schools of fish peacefully swimming, transformed into a deep and blue lake with the construction of Daecheong Dam in 1980. However, the area still offers a place where you can find rest and enjoy leisure while gazing at the watercourse. Without a doubt, this region is a precious gift from the Geumgang River to the nostalgic land of Okcheon. It is also a great destination for taking photographs throughout the seasons, capturing the beauty of each season's changing scenery.
